They say: `Where is Paradise, and where is Hell?’
Say: `The one is reunion with Me; the other thine own self.’
~ Bahá’u'lláh
Spring started early and has come on strong here. 40 mph winds and all. On March 11 plum blossoms burst open and soon butterflies and bees were busy with them. The city's annual St. Patrick's Day Balloon Rallye took to the air from the west mesa for a couple of days after St. Paddy's -- too windy on the actual day. By the 23rd it was warm enough to move the temperate bonsai from their winter quarters in the garage and repot them. An experiment has begun with the Japanese Grey Barked Elm -- a Siberian Elm sprouted beside its trunk, and has been allowed to grow around it. The plan is to keep it very short. House Finches ignored sunflower seed feeders all winter, only to discover them in mid-March -- just before it's time to put the hummingbird feeders out. Apple blossoms made their first appearance around the 23rd.
